Creative Work and Connection Between Generations – Eternal Values of Our People

The President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Participates in the Nationwide Greening Campaign

In Turkmenistan, with the participation of Head of State Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the next stage of the implementation of a large-scale landscaping programme was launched, during which thousands of “green inhabitants” of manmade forests were planted throughout the country. The Hero-Arkadag also took part in the tree planting campaign in a picturesque place in the south of Ashgabat.
Over the centuries, the Turkmen people have formed distinctive traditions of a careful and harmonious attitude towards nature, striving to turn their beloved land into a blooming garden. These noble principles the country’s environmental policy in the period of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State is based on.
The natural conditions of Turkmenistan, one of the oldest centres of world civilisation, contributed to the enrichment of the local flora and the emergence of agriculture. Historical data confirm that there were magnificent oases in the vast expanses of the country, and our ancestors developed agriculture and grew fruit trees.
In accordance with the national traditions of caring for nature, the country is taking measures to protect the environment, to wisely use natural resources and to develop a “green” economy.
…Early in the morning, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived by car at Magtymguly Pyragy cultural and park complex.
There, the Head of Turkmenistan was warmly welcomed by the Chairwoman of the Mejlis, deputy chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of the security, defence and law-enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, diplomatic missions and international structures accredited to Turkmenistan, the hyakim of the city of Ashgabat and participants in the action.
The festive atmosphere and enthusiasm of the action participants were enhanced by performances of the country’s leading artists and masters of the national musical art.
After warmly greeting those gathered, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov headed to the site prepared for planting work.
A representative of the younger generation approached the head of state. With cheerful poetic lines, he wished the President of Turkmenistan good health and every success in his multifaceted activity and asked Arkadagly Hero Serdar to start the greening campaign.
Then the head of state, with planting the first young tree in the new park, being laid in the southern part of the capital, launched the spring landscaping campaign timed to coincide with the National Spring Day.
The greening campaign confirmed that the traditions of our wise ancestors were receiving new content.
Following the example of the Head of Turkmenistan, all participants in the event began planting seedlings around the new cultural and park complex, which will soon be located there.

It should be noted that among those present there were many young people. This is another evidence of the active participation of the younger generation in charitable activities that are of great importance in the life of the Motherland, their diligence and desire to contribute to the prosperity of their native land.
Then the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atahalliyev reported to the Head of Turkmenistan that thousands of seedlings were being planted throughout the country, and a high organisational level of the greening campaign had been ensured.
Emphasising that planting trees was of great importance for creating a favourable environmental situation, the President of Turkmenistan instructed to keep under constant control issues related to environment protection, activities to transform the Motherland into a flourishing land and the care for previously planted trees.
Next, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Annamammedov informed of the ongoing work to improve the capital city, to clean up its territory and to introduce modern technologies into the activities of the municipal services.
The head of state gave a number of instructions for the further development of Ashgabat and the maintenance of the cleanliness of the city.
During the conversation, the President of Turkmenistan focused attention on the tasks arising from the Action Plan for the implementation of the Programme “Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State: The National Programme of the Socioeconomic Development of Turkmenistan in 2022–2052”, the Programme of the President of Turkmenistan of the Socioeconomic Development of the Country in 2022–2028 and the Programme of the Socioeconomic Development of Turkmenistan and Investments for 2024, ordering to keep their implementation under control.
It should be noted that the majestic monument to Magtymguly Pyragy, installed on a hill at the foothills of Kopetdag Mountains, is visible from afar. The large-scale cultural and park complex will become the centre of celebrations to take place on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of the great poet and thinker of the East. Currently, steps are being taken to organise events to mark the anniversary of the master of artistic expression in the year “Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Pyragy.”
Then President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, wishing the audience a successful implementation of this important environmental event, left the venue.
Massive campaigns for planting seedlings, which have become a good tradition in our country, contribute to the creation of new park and forest areas, the enrichment of Turkmen flora and the formation of a favourable climate, which is an important condition for ensuring the environmental safety, health and wellbeing of the population.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also visited one of the most beautiful places of the south of the capital, where with the participation of the National Leader, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the nationwide tree planting campaign was held.
There, Arkadagly Hero Serdar was warmly greeted by participants in the greening campaign.
As a result of the successful implementation of large-scale programmes and reforms launched by the Hero-Arkadag and covering all aspects of the country’s life, our Motherland, under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, is turning into a prosperous, economically powerful state.
Particular importance is attached to environmental policy, the creation of forest zones and the planting of various types of trees along roads, rivers and canals.
Together with the Hero-Arkadag, the President of Turkmenistan headed to the place where the greening campaign began.

A park area will be created between the Constitution Monument and the Maslahatlar Kösgi Palace.

Guided by the example of the Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, leaders and representatives of public organisations and political parties of the country enthusiastically began planting trees, marking the beginning of the new forest zone along Archabil Avenue.
White-marble buildings in the south of Ashgabat harmoniously fit into the surrounding landscape, transforming it. This year, passing under the motto “Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Pyragy,” is full of significant events.
The President of Turkmenistan and the Hero-Arkadag planted seven seedlings together. The number seven is considered a symbol of good luck and prosperity among the Turkmen.
Creative work and connections between generations are the eternal values of our people. And the event has become a vivid symbol of the worthy continuation of the good traditions of our ancestors.
In recent years, the look of the Turkmen capital has changed beyond recognition. This is a result of the successful implementation of the urban development policy carried out under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
As in all corners of the Motherland, in the suburbs of Ashgabat the boundaries of forest zones are expanding, contributing to the creation of an ecological environment favourable for life.
Currently, large-scale measures are being implemented to ensure a high environmental level in accordance with the Programme “The Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State: The National Programme of the Socioeconomic Development of Turkmenistan in 2022–2052” and the Programme of the President of Turkmenistan of the Socioeconomic Development of the Country in 2022–2028.
Being an active participant in the international dialogue in such an extremely topical area as the environmental sphere, Turkmenistan stands for the deepening and development of positive cooperation in the UN format and effective partnership with other large organisations and structures. Environmental programmes and projects implemented at the national and regional levels increase the efficiency of activities in this direction.
The importance of the constructive initiatives, put forward by Turkmenistan at various high-level forums and receiving broad support from the international community, should be noted.
A striking example of this is the proposals to open a Regional Centre for Technologies related to Climate Change in Central Asia in Ashgabat, to develop the UN Water Strategy and the UN Special Programme for the Aral Sea Basin, to highlight the Aral issue as a separate area of UN activities, to preserve the environmental wellbeing of the Caspian Sea and others.
Constructive proposals for solving pressing climate and environmental problems were voiced by the Head of Turkmenistan from the high rostrum of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
Last December, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the COP 28 Climate Summit in Dubai, announced Turkmenistan’s accession to the Global Methane Pledge.
The head of state reminded that at the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Glasgow, Turkmenistan had expressed support for the new initiative on the Global Methane Pledge and also expressed interest in a detailed study of the document and participation in its implementation.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that, taking into account the recommendations of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and with the active support of the UN Development Programme, Ashgabat had prepared and approved in May 2022 Turkmenistan’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to the Paris Climate Agreement. According to the head of the Turkmen state, this strategic document provides for a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 20 per cent in 2030 relative to 2010 levels.
The readiness to implement the initiative to open in our country the UN Regional Centre for Technologies Related to Climate Change in Central Asia was also confirmed.
That day’s nationwide greening campaign is evidence of the close relationship between man and nature; it is aimed at improving the quality of life of people, the environment and prosperity of the Turkmen land.
The rows of trees planted on both sides of Archabil Avenue, in one of the most beautiful places of the southern part of the capital, are a symbol of the success of the work on ensuring a favourable environmental situation in the independent Motherland.

At the end of the greening campaign, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov warmly said goodbye to its participants and left the venue.
The creation of unique green areas and parks and the enrichment of the local flora is one of the main directions of the comprehensive development of the capital.
Currently, in the suburbs of Ashgabat, the areas, occupied by plantings of junipers, have expanded. These plants strengthen the soil, retain subsoil moisture and resist mudflows, largely preventing their formation. It has also been established that they reduce the concentration of carbon monoxide, trap dust from the air and are an excellent natural protection from the wind.
In addition, the forest park area around the capital helps improve the climate. Juniper forests have been created on the hills and slopes; the number of trees is already tens of millions.
During the greening campaign, a total of 594 thousand 892 seedlings of deciduous, coniferous and fruit trees and vines were planted. Along with measures to maintain cleanliness in park and forest areas and their improvement, care was taken on this day for 2 million 376 thousand 204 trees.
Thanks to the environmental policy of the head of state, our country is turning into a land of generous gardens and fields in the period of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State, and the areas of green oases, beautiful parks and dense forests, which have become symbols of renewal and growth, are expanding.
