On September 24, 2024, the successive meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan was held at the “Maslahat Köşgi” Palace of the capital under the chairmanship of the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The crucial issues of state life were discussed at this national conference held on the eve of the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.

The historic meeting was attended by the leadership of government bodies, members of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, deputies of the Mejlis, heads of ministries and sectoral agencies, heads of political parties and public organizations, hakims (mayors) of velayats, etraps and cities, as well as members of velayat, etrap and city Halk Maslahaty, honorary elders, mothers, public representatives from all regions of the country, as well as guests.

Addressing the participants, the National Leader of Turkmen people noted the significance of the event. “This year we widely celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi, whose works have enriched the golden treasury of world literature,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, highlighting that the era dreamed of by the poet who linked his fate with the fate of the people has come.

It was noted that important work on further development of Independent Neutral Turkmenistan continues.

In this regard, the main mission of the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan was outlined - to review the milestone frontiers, identify future tasks and consolidate the achievements of the sovereign state.

In his speech, the National Leader of Turkmen people reflected the exemplary path of the establishment of the Independent Neutral Turkmenistan, which was dreamed of by the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi, as well as outlined the priority vectors of further development of Turkmenistan as a democratic, legal and secular state.

Addressing the participants of the meeting, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty emphasized that the new period requires expansion of the scope of ongoing reforms, improvement of the educational potential of the society. In this regard, it was proposed to convene meetings on improving the fields of science, education and culture, state youth policy until the end of the current year.

Touching upon the environmental issues, the National Leader of Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the creation of forest zones in the surroundings of Ashgabat and Arkadag cities, in velayats, as well as in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza” on the Caspian coast within the framework of the programs adopted, construction of the Turkmen lake “Altyn asyr” in the middle of the Karakums and other activities aimed at ensuring environmental safety serve as a clear confirmation of the great importance attached in Turkmenistan to environmental protection, turning cities and villages into a flourishing oasis.

Then the floor was given to the participants of the meeting, who emphasized in their speeches that the decisions taken at this assembly would give a strong impulse to the further development of the country.

After a short break, the Halk Maslahaty session continued with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Warmly greeting the audience and all compatriots, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan is welcoming the 33rd anniversary of Independence with glorious achievements. The head of state congratulated everyone on the remarkable date and wished them good health, happy life and great success in their work.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the main common goal is Turkmenistan’s confident advancement towards a great future, and therefore it is necessary to direct all efforts to ensure further prosperity of the country and raise the living standards of the people.

In order to successfully address the tasks defined in the “Program for the Revival of a New Era of a Powerful State: National Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan in 2022-2052”, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to work on and submit to the Halk Maslahaty the “Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan and Investments in 2025”.

The speech of the President of Turkmenistan addressed a wide range of issues of socio-economic development of the country.

Then, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty asked the President of Turkmenistan to sign the documents on awarding the citizens of Turkmenistan, who have distinguished themselves in work, with state awards on the occasion of Independence Day.

To the applause of the audience, the head of state signed the relevant documents.

In a solemn atmosphere, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov presented awards to the representatives of the older generation who were honored with the Title “Hormatly il ýaşulusy” (Honorary Elder) of Turkmenistan and the Order “Zenan kalby” (Soul of a Woman) for diligent brilliant work in various spheres, education of the youth in the spirit of patriotism and high spiritual and moral values of the nation.

With a sense of sincere pride, the honored elders and mothers accepted the deserved awards, expressing their heartfelt gratitude for the appreciation of their work and tireless concern.

Then, the ceremony of awarding people honored with the Title “Hero of Turkmenistan” was held.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov presented the highest state award to the President of the Production and Scientific Seed Growing Association of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Head of the CIS Intergovernmental Coordination Council on Seed Breeding, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Academician I.I.Kuzmin, People’s Artist of Turkmenistan, recipient of the International Magtymguly Prize A.S.Nurmuhammedova, as well as to the famous sculptor, People’s Painter of Turkmenistan S.Babaev.

Expressing his heartfelt gratitude for the high award, Academician I.I.Kuzmin expressed words of respect for the achievements of modern dynamically developing Turkmenistan.

In turn, stating their profound gratefulness to the Head of State for the great honor - the award of the highest honor - the title “Hero of Turkmenistan”, A.S. Nurmuhammedova and S. Babaev emphasized that such a high appreciation of their work would inspire them to new deeds, elevating their love and pride for sovereign Turkmenistan.

Addressing the participants of the meeting with a concluding speech, the National Leader of Turkmen people noted that significant matters were discussed at the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty and encouraging tasks were defined in accordance with the Presidential Program.

The National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov once again cordially congratulated the participants on the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, wished everyone sound health, prosperous and happy life, as well as new successes in the ongoing work for the sake of further prosperity of the country.
